The holiday is based at St Brelade's Bay Hotel, a beautiful 4-star hotel with it's own private beach front garden and private access to the beach making it a great place to stay. We can paint in the gardens or on the beach and there are plenty of boats, a nearby beautiful old church on the sea front near to the small harbour. There are also great panoramic views of the bay that can be seen from the restaurant, the dedicated function room and many of the bedrooms.

We will paint a wide range of subjects including a selection of St. Brelade's Bay, St Aubin's Harbour, Gorey Castle & Harbour, La Corbiere Lighthouse, La Rocq & Le Hocq as well as Rozel Bay and Bouley Bay on the north coast and more.

    Demonstrations

Peter is available to give demonstrations of watercolour to Art Clubs and Societies and other Social clubs.
Although most bookings come from Art Clubs, Peter has given, and is happy to consider giving demonstrations to, many groups not specifically connected to art (Women's Institute, Private Groups, Village Hall Associations etc); in these circumstances, content may be modified accordingly to suit the respective audience. As well as the core demonstration, Peter will also bring along books, DVDs, Cards and Prints for sale at the event. Prior arrangements may be made to auction off the demonstration piece if required.

    DURATION
Most demonstrations will last the duration of a club's normal meeting hours (usually 2 hours approx., plus tea-break, up to a maximum of 3 hours) and consist of a stand-up demonstration of watercolour technique.

    SUBJECT
Unless a specific technique or subject matter is requested at the time of booking, Peter will usually choose a subject taken from recent sketching trips. He will discuss the importance of the preliminary sketch in the painting process, and then proceed to paint up from the chosen sketch, drawing attention to, and discussing in detail, the techniques involved as they arise. Demonstrations can be lively and entertaining - questions are invited from the audience throughout, making it as informative as possible.

    FEES
Fees for demonstrations are charged at a set rate, plus travel expenses (negotiable, depending upon distance).

Peter is happy to consider demonstration enquiries from anywhere in the UK and abroad.

    Art (& Other) Club Workshops

Peter is available to give watercolour workshops to Art Clubs and Societies and other Social clubs.

An all-day workshop is an ideal environment in which groups can work towards improving all aspects of watercolour technique. Peter will discuss, demonstrate and actively encourage participants to explore each stage of a watercolour as it progresses throughout the day. Working from photographs and sketches either pre-arranged with, and supplied by, the club or, as is more often the case, from source material provided by Peter himself, the object of a day's workshop is to create a finished (or near-finished) work.

    DURATION
All-day workshops usually run from 10am until 4pm, with tea-breaks and lunch-break to suit workshop organisers. Other starting and finishing times may be pre-arranged, provided it falls within a maximum 6-hour period. Workshops of longer duration will be charged extra.

    SUBJECT
Unless a specific technique or subject matter is requested at the time of booking, Peter will usually choose a subject taken from recent sketching trips. He will discuss the importance of the preliminary sketch in the painting process, and then proceed to paint up in a step-by-step manner from the chosen sketch, drawing attention to, and discussing in detail, the techniques involved as they arise.

A one-day Introductory Workshop for Total Beginners can be provided on request. This would feature exercises on the four basic washes, culminating in a simple first landscape.

    FEES
Fees for all-day workshops are charged at a set rate, plus travel expenses (negotiable, depending upon distance).
A nominal fee of £1 per person may also be added to the fee to cover the printing of photos and sketches provided by Peter.

    NUMBERS
The minimum number of participants for a workshop to go ahead is 6.
A recommended maximum number of participants is 20. Groups of more than 20 may be charged extra.
It is important for Peter to know beforehand how many will be attending, so that he knows how many source-material printouts to arrange.

Peter is happy to consider workshop enquiries from anywhere in the UK and abroad.
