Description
The climb up to the top of St Sunday Crag from Patterdale is a tough one, but the views once you get there (at 2759 ft) – providing the conditions are clear as they were on this day – make the expended effort more than worth it.
Grisedale Tarn nestles below; the crag to right of it is Falcon Crag, leading up to Dollywaggon Pike (I’ve always loved that name). Hike further, and you would eventually reach the summit of Helvellyn (out of sight, off to the right).
Needless to say, we enjoyed the views as we rested and ate our lunchtime sandwiches. Fortunately, the way back is all ‘down’, via the tarn, and then alongside the stream you see, back along Grisedale, to Patterdale… and a well-earned pint.
This painting is supplied unframed, and will be dispatched in protective packaging with rigid backing panel, ready to take to a framer.
