Description

A direct walk from Muker to Keld, in Upper Swaledale, takes you across Kisdon Hill, a modest peak at 499 metres in height. This is an area festooned with dry-stone walls and old stone barns, and this scene in particular, depicts a point at which I’d dropped down from the top of the hill, into the upper reaches of Swaledale.

The barn doesn’t appear to have a name, but across the valley in the background, you can just make out Thorns Farm and a copse that probably falls within the boundary of Angram.

I painted this watercolour while exhibiting at Art in the Pen 2021, at Skipton Auction Mart – one of the first big art shows to go ahead after a tumultuous pandemic-driven year.

This painting is supplied unframed, and will be dispatched in protective packaging with rigid backing panel, ready to take to a framer.
