Description
The falls at Linton, in Wharfdale, make an excellent primary target for a days hike from Burnsall (further down the dale) a natural turning point in the walk, and a good subject for sketching and painting. But there’s more to Linton than just the falls; on the eastern side of the river, immediately after crossing the old footbridge, I came across this barn. And with the sunlight and surrounding trees casting such interesting shadows across the scene, I knew instantly that I had found another great subject – one just begging to be painted as a Line and Wash.
If pushed, I think I would have to say that line and wash is perhaps one of my all-time favourite painting disciplines. The combination of relatively precise ink drawing and loose watercolour washes makes it perfect as an outdoor sketching technique, but I also find it enjoyable in the more controlled environment of the studio too.
This painting is supplied unframed, and will be dispatched in protective packaging with rigid backing panel, ready to take to a framer.
