Boulder Valley, Coniston (Original Watercolour)

Description

The summer of 2026 had been particularly hot and dry, with drought conditions persisting right across the country. In the middle of this, Tracey and I headed off to Coniston, in the Lake District, with a plan to climb to Levers Water. Considering the weather conditions either side of our visit, we were a little dismayed to find Levers Water grey, overcast and surprisingly cold (on account of the wind). Our route back down took us over the hill and into an area that I must confess I’d never heard of before. An area that I was quite excited to see labelled on the map as ‘Boulder Valley’.
