Hartington Church (Pencil Sketch)

Description

This sketch was made on location in the village of Hartington, in the Peak District.

Having run weekend painting workshops there for many years, this was the first time I’d taken a group up into the churchyard. The only reason this is surprising is because the church is situated literally just across the road from the village hall in which the workshops took place.

Needless to say, it was a glorious day, with good, well-defined light and shade, and the church, seen from this angle, was contrasting particularly well against the dark trees over to the right of the scene.

This painting is supplied unframed, and will be dispatched in protective packaging with rigid backing panel, ready to take to a framer.
