I heard the commotion in the back garden before I saw it. Gingerly, I opened the back door, and there it was…

I’m not sure who was the most surprised; me or the sparrowhawk. It was busy tucking into the remains of a starling, and didn’t seem too bothered by my presence, so I stealthily backed into the house to retrieve my camera.

The photographs I took gave me enough information to be able to reproduce the moment in watercolour.

This painting is supplied unframed, and will be dispatched in protective packaging with rigid backing panel, ready to take to a framer.
