Description
Buckden is a small village at the very top end of Upper Wharfedale, in the Yorkshire Dales National Park. It’s a great starting point for climbing to the top of Buckden Pike, and for exploring the lower reaches of Langstrothdale.
In fact, this was our approach to Buckden having already climbed to the Pike, and navigated our way back down to Starbotton, just down the dale. The riverside path follows the path of ‘The Dales Way’ long distance footpath; for us, it marked the end of a very rewarding 8-mile circular walk.
