Description

This was our final destination on a three-day, hiking and tarn-bagging adventure in Great Langdale, in the Lake District.

At first glance, there may not appear to be much going on in the scene; it’s a wild, very quiet, location after all (although this is a popular location for hardened backpackers to ‘wild camp’ for the night). It’s apparent loneliness is one of its most endearing qualities; if you’re looking to get away from it all, and drop ‘off-grid’ for a period of time, then you could do much worse than holing up at Angle Tarn.

My approach was to try and capture some of that mood and set the scene at sundown. We actually had a few hours of light left when we were there, but having visited under such conditions many years ago, and wild-camped at Sprinkling Tarn, which is literally just over that hill… I can tell you that it’s a great place to be at sunset.

This painting was featured in my YouTube ‘Great Langdale’ series, which can be viewed here.

This painting is supplied unframed, and will be dispatched in protective packaging with rigid backing panel, ready to take to a framer.
