Description

Puddles are a familiar sight to anyone who regularly walks in the Yorkshire Dales. In this scene, typical of the Dales, the puddles provide a means to disperse the colours from the sky throughout the composition, and the arrangement of muddy tracks helps to draw the eye in towards the winter tree, ravaged by high winds on the side of Penn Hill.

Penn Hill is located to the south of Leyburn, in Wensleydale, North Yorkshire.
