Summer in Marske (Original Watercolour)

Description

I was living in Richmond when I painted this, just a few miles from Marske, so this represents a regular hiking destination for us. If we fancied a walk out, but didn’t want to travel too far, then ‘lets go to Marske’ was a familiar refrain.

Originally conceived as a demonstration for my YouTube Channel, and subsequently a project for my online students, I always felt the composition came together particularly well, and aptly illustrated my technique for painting summer foliage. I’ve painted it several times since, as demonstration pieces for art clubs, but this was the first – and, I think, the best.

The specific location is Telfit Bank. This is looking up the hill; the view looking back down the track can be seen in another painting of mine here.

This painting is supplied unframed, and will be dispatched in protective packaging with rigid backing panel, ready to take to a framer.
