Description
The Strid is a place where the River Wharfe becomes compressed into a narrow channel. Many lives have been lost as folks have attempted the jump from one bank to the other; to miss means it is the last jump you’ll make.
Situated in Strid Wood, a short walk up from Bolton Abbey in Wharfedale, the location is quite spectacular at any time of the year. I was particularly impressed by the large amount of green moss growing on many of the adjacent rocks, and couldn’t wait to paint it.
This painting was produced while exhibiting and demonstrating at Patchings Art Festival, in July 2023.
This painting is supplied unframed, and will be dispatched in protective packaging with rigid backing panel, ready to take to a framer.
