Description
This is one of several paintings I produced as part of a major project featuring The Three Peaks of Yorkshire (Ingleborough, Whernside and Pen-y-Ghent). It’s an area bursting with limestone pavements and potholes, and this particular pothole has always been a favourite of mine. I’ve also always considered it an essential ‘must-visit’ bonus whenever I’ve climbed Pen-y-Ghent (seen in the distance), requiring only a minor diversion from the route heading back down towards Horton-in-Ribblesdale.
On this occasion, I chose to paint the scene using a Line and Wash method, which helped me to focus as much impact as possible upon Hull Pot itself, while still capturing the adjacent rolling landscape.
The full Three Peaks project can be ordered on DVD or Video On Demand, from here
This painting is supplied unframed, and will be dispatched in protective packaging with rigid backing panel, ready to take to a framer.
